First Responders
The First Responder Service has been operating since 2003. It is a vital and much appreciated service offered by the Town.Over 1,500 interventions have occurred to date and some of these have saved a number of lives!
The rules regarding the setting up of a First Responder Service are set out in la Loi sur les services préhospitaliers d’urgence and comply with the code of ethics.
The service is financed by the Town of Brome Lake with the assistance of a number of sponsors, and relies also on fund-raising events organized by the members themselves or by Town citizens.
Each member of the service receives full and adequate training free of charge. These training programmes are given under the authority of the Agence de développement de réseaux locaux de santé et de services sociaux de la Montérégie (formerly the Régie régionale).
Each member is expected to be on duty based on a 7-day, 24 hour schedule. A member is called upon to provide a minimum number of hours so that the service can be fully effective.
