Guardian Angels Project
During a cold late evening in 2008, our community came face to face with an unfortunate fatal fire. Since that sad event, the Fire Department has sought unceasingly to identify ways to maximize the safety of its citizens while they are sleeping.
Although the presence of a smoke alarm does not prevent a fire from starting, it enables the occupants to be warned and have time to leave the premises! The smoke alarm plays a vital role by providing the alert when a fire is just developing. Because fire spreads so quickly, the seconds following the start of a fire are essential.
After considerable research on the management and prevention of fires occurring during the night, the Brome Lake Fire Department began an initiative aimed at strengthening the fire prevention rules, regulations ratified by the Town.
