Subdivision Standards
A By-Law respecting the subdivision of lots
This by-law allows a municipality to better organize its territory even before buildings are erected. By-laws like this one control the interventions of those specialists whose responsibility it is to divide municipal territory into parcels for the purpose of development.
This type of by-law establishes standards that take into account the presence or absence of certain facilities such as water, sewer, or the proximity to watercourses or other natural accidents. This by-law will assist the municipality in better assessing the use to which any given parcel of land is put, and to regulating such issues as density. It is a reflection of a town’s planning intentions.
Finally, this by-law regulates street width and other related issues.
A request for the subdividing of any existing lot is subject to the granting of a permit issued by the municipality.
